The Challenge

La Crosse, Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip is one of the largest convenience store operators in the United States, with over 850 locations in its network. In 2019, Kwik Trip realized they needed to better meet their customers where they were --which was typically on their smartphones – to drive stronger engagement and higher loyalty. The company wanted to open up more channels of communication in order to enroll more users into their popular mobile loyalty program, Kwik Rewards, and convert more of these members into active, engaged, repeat Kwik Trip customers.  

The company also wanted to find new avenues to promote new products and services, and generate positive ROI for their mobile loyalty program. They turned to Vibes to help them develop the right solution.  

The Solution

Kwik Trip started working with Vibes in 2019, with a key goal of ensuring that enrollment in their mobile loyalty program was convenient and accessible. Vibes helped the company put together a multi-faceted program focused on SMS, MMS, Push and Mobile Wallet, all using the Vibes mobile engagement platform.  

Customers were able subscribe in-store, on the Kwik Trip website, and through the brand’s app to get push, text, and wallet notifications for the revamped loyalty program. Once subscribed for the loyalty program, customers were then conveniently able to save their loyalty card in their mobile wallet without having to keep the app -  while still being able to receive notifications, one of the key value propositions of the Vibes-powered Mobile Wallet.  

Vibes-powered MMS was another mobile messaging tool that Kwik Trip found immensely valuable. Using images in conjunction with special offers allowed the brand to deliver enticing, visual messages to strike the consumer’s attention. One MMS campaign that Kwik Trip launched saw a shockingly high 88% redemption rate!

Kwik Trip’s third mobile strategy was to engage their fans through mobile moments that rewarded participation. Through this strategy, their goal was to entice their fans with value to drive customer retention. To achieve this, Kwik Trip partnered with Vibes to create an innovative Spin-to-Win game that entertained and most importantly, engaged consumers. The game was delivered via SMS, and Kwik Trip also utilized mobile wallet to deliver coupons that were won within the game, while additionally providing consumers with the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes contest.
